On Sunday, November 23, 2003, Dr. David Cooperrider conducted an “Appreciative Inquiry” for approximately 350 members of Federated Church. The event took place at the Family Life Center and was intended as a means to gather input from the congregation that will be used by the Search Committee to describe our church to prospective new Senior Ministers. Participants interviewed each other to gather information about their relationship to Federated, high point stories in their experience at Federated, the qualities that are important to them, their hopes for the future, how they might help in the transition and what they would most like to say to Dave and Priscilla. (retiring minister and spiritual life coordinator) Groups of eight were then formed to undertake specific work outlining the strengths of Federated, the “Positive Core” that we want to carry forward,envisioning a desired future for Federated and what can be done to facilitate a smooth transition to a new Senior Minister.
