This is a recent example of Appreciative Inquiry at FedEx Custom Critical when they focused on their unique and powerful culture with their team members: Writing on the Wall FedEx Custom Critical team members are proud to say that our unique company culture is more than words on paper. It is literally words on its office building walls! Because of our innovative culture and commitment to appreciative inquiry, we created the “Zeal Wall.” This wall gives team members an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about the company – and literally write it on the wall for all to see. The “Zeal Wall” incorporates FedEx Custom Critical’s six core competencies: Trust, Team Spirit, Customer Obsessed, Innovation, Zeal and Relentless Achievement. The Executive Leadership Team led group discussions and encouraged team members to share comments about how they experience our culture. These comments are displayed around the six core competencies. Examples include: “It’s a matter of heart;” “We care, we share, we’re fair;” “There’s no place like home until you work here;” and “Solid foundation of excellence.” “Zeal Wall” has inspired team members to create other ideas such as the “WOW!” program. The “WOW!” program encouraged team members to provide customer solutions using out-of-the-box thinking. These creative solutions were not only recognized but also shared with the organization as a positive training tool. In these challenging economic times, we look to our culture as our differentiator from other companies to retain and recruit the best team members. The “Zeal Wall” allows us to reaffirm and reinforce our unique culture that we work diligently to maintain. We continue to look for opportunities to capitalize on our unique culture.
