Without a common history upon which to draw upon the group exercises used in the graduate classroom are limited. They convey the basics of group dynamics but fall short of providing students with knowledge for successful application to the “real world.” A group exercise based upon appreciate inquiry permits students, by focusing upon their peak experiences, to create a “shared history” allowing teams to develop concrete suggestions for improving their own unique workplace groups.
