Dr. Don Schutt, NCC, LPC, BCC is currently Senior Director Emeritus and served most recently as the Senior Director of Talent Management (formerly the Director of Human Resource Development) in the Office of Human Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he oversaw talent recruitment and engagement, services for English-language learning employees including interpretation and translation services, and learning and talent development for nearly 20,000 employees. Previously, Don worked as a career development specialist at the Center on Education and Work in the School of Education at UW-Madison.
In the last twenty-five years, he has presented over 1,000 keynotes, courses and workshops focusing on a variety of topics including leadership development, management strategies, program management, process improvement, employee relations, and professional and career development concepts. In addition, he has written four books focusing on creating and implementing career development systems in organizations.
Don is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Wisconsin and a National Certified Counselor. In addition, he is Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certified (through Executive Ed at UW-Madison) and a Certified ScrumMaster through the ScrumAlliance. In addition, he recently became a Board Certified Coach.
Education and Professional Experience:
Ph.D. and M.A. in Counselor Education from the University of Iowa, B.A. in Journalism and Economics from UW-Madison, a Certificate Strategic Human Resources Management from Cornell University, and a Certificate in Distance Education from Indiana University. Twenty years in Human Resources at UW-Madison; teaching and work at a grants-funded research center prior to joining HR.
