A native of the Asheville, NC, in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Sallie spent six years living in Colombia , giving her good communication skills in both Spanish and English. She has also lived in Sydney, Miami, and New York, but once again has Asheville as her base.

Her educational background also includes an undergraduate BS/BA in psychology and philosophy from North Carolina State University, an MA from the University of Miami in International Relations, and an MA in Wisdom Studies from Wisdom University.
