Mary Jane Dieter, the founder of Appreciative Pathways, guides organizations and communities to discover, analyze, and leverage their collective strengths to co-create their desired future. For the past nine years, Mary Jane has used Appreciative Inquiry as the foundation for her facilitation approach because of her belief that the best way to create positive change is to ask generative questions of the whole system about what works and why. She also trains others who are inspired to learn more about the methodology of Appreciative Inquiry through online programs offered through the David Cooperrider Center for Appreciative Inquiry at Champlain College, as well as her face-to-face training, “FAIT” (Facilitating Appreciative Inquiry Training), that she offers in collaboration with the Center. She was recently chosen to be a co-presenter at the World Appreciative Inquiry Conference in Nice, France in March of 2019. Her workshop is entitled “Three Tips for Skillfully Blending the Art of Appreciative Inquiry with the Science of Facilitation.” For the second year, Mary Jane is both chairing and facilitating the “AI Community Jam” in Burlington Vermont. This annual event is sponsored by the Cooperrider Center and brings together students, practitioners, and the curious to celebrate Appreciative Inquiry and positive approaches to change and life. Mary Jane holds a Certificate in Appreciative Inquiry from the Center and is also a Member of their Council of Practice. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California.
