My “affair” with Appreciative Inquiry goes back to 2000 when I attended the AI Training conducted by David and Diane at Taos, New Mexico. When I returned to the Philippines, I used my school to orient interested learners in AI, encouraged candidates (to the MA or PhD program)to use AI in their research… either as a theoretical foundation or as a methodology. I must say that in the Philippines, we have gone a long happy way. Across organizations, AI has been and continues to be recognized for its worth. I brought AI, too, to Bangkok, Thailand (Church and school community), to Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Bandung, Indonesia through our graduates’ network. I have tried my hands using also AI in book writing (And I am proud to say, we have completed 2-books and two-yearbooks and many articles on different topics). And yes, SAIDI GSOD has convened two Asian AI Summits. In the first summit, David Cooperrider graced the event; and in the second summit, via teleconferencing, Diane Whitney was our keynote speaker. And another yes, I have developed learning sessions using AI or embedding AI in the processes. Currently, I am involved in a small group trying to develop intersection conversations using as platform AI. this activity has been framed by the group on Sustained Dialogues. The hope of this activity is to stretch awareness, create windows in our mindsets and discover possibilities for group actions, if the conversations stimulate such.
